Smaug, also nicknamed Smug, is a male dragon and a minor antagonist in the Triangle vs. Monkey Series. He is a dragon originated from The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies Universe.

Biography

Triangle vs. Monkey

Season 1

Triangle Vs. Monkey: Season 1 (Part 9)

Triangle and Monkey end up in The Hobbit Universe where they meet Smaug, who has burnt Laketown to ashes. After arguing and sparking the dragon's anger by calling him Smug, they leave Smaug by via Router teleportation, who proceeds to kill an ironically sympathetic Bard the Bowman as he is frustrated.

Season 2

Triangle Vs. Monkey: Season 2 (Part 20)

Smaug later reappeared, hired by Mecha Kong, along with Starscream and Rexy, to take down Triangle and Monkey (unsuccessfully). Later, the Crimson Hunter asks Smaug what the latter is looking at after being informed that Smaug, along with Rexy and Starscream, are now allies, earning himself an annoyed snort from Smaug.

Smaug is vain and proud, and he is easily offended when he is disrespected such as Triangle and Monkey calling him "Smug". He is also vengeful and will attempt to exact revenge on those he feels have wronged him. He is apparently hormonal after his sixty-year slumber, making him quick to upset. He also sees other Dragons like Noodle Neck for example, as a rival challenger and inferior in Smaug’s own eyes. By Season 3, his own ego, pride, overconfidence, thirst for revenge, and most importantly his own arrogance ultimately proved to be his own downfall at the hands of both Noodle Neck and Mechagodzilla (2021).

Abilities and Skills

Fire breath

Smaug is able to breath fire from his mouth.

Flight

Smaug is swift and skilled in his flight, able to engage in aerial battles and maneuvers.

Armour

Smaug's armour cannot be penetrated by any regular weapons, save for a spot on his chest where a single scale is missing.

Weakness

Smaug’s Missing Scale

There is a spot where Smaug is missing a protective scale, allowing him to take damage and be killed when a resourceful Noodle Neck exploited that weakness.

Blunt force

While Smaug's armor is impossible to pierce, it wasn’t able to protect his neck from the sheer force of his neck being snapped by Mechagodzilla (2021), especially with the dragon in shock after Noodle Neck impaled him with Starscream's null ray in the gap in his scales.

Trivia

• The missing scale in Smaug's armour was supposedly knocked out by Girion, Lord of Dale years prior.
• The appearance of Monkey and Triangle seems to have angered Smaug into killing Bard the Bowman earlier than he did in the film, inadvertently delaying the dragon's death, as he would have been killed by Bard's black arrow later.
  • In Part 39, Noodle Neck notices Smaug's missing scale, and spears the dragon in his weak spot with Starscream's severed arm's null ray. This mirrors Smaug's death in the Hobbit films, where he was shot in the same place with a black arrow.
• Smaug is one of only two Dragons to appear in the Triangle vs. Monkey series so far (the other being Noodle Neck).
• On coloring pages he is called Smug likely to avoid copyright issues.
